I am by nature, a sentimental person. And I spend more time at home than the average person given that I am self-employed; my living space is both home and office. So when I found out last year that the beautiful, large and ridiculously cheap art deco apartment I’d spent close to 3 years living in, along with 2 awesome flatmates, was set to be demolished for redevelopment in the first half of 2017, I knew I wanted something more to remember it by than a bunch of blurry cellphone pics of our various housewarming and house-cooling parties (the middle bedroom was something of a revolving door, seeing 4 different flatmates come and go over 3 years, each warranted a party, naturally). I also thought the building deserved to be immortalized; so filled with character, sunny charm and gentle rust from decades of sea air. It’s name was Mon Reve, French for “My Dream”
So I teamed up with the talented Danielle Olivier and set out to create a fashion editorial of sorts showcasing my favourite parts of the small apartment complex and mixing a variety of new and vintage pieces from my wardrobe in a (very) loose interpretation of “seventies housewife”. The pics are a mixture of film & digital + 2 cellphone pics I personally took. I’ve been sitting on these images for a while but here we have it. Part 2 will follow soon.
